So the Bears, to help provide some insurance, went out and signed Rod Hood who was released by the Cleveland Browns. Curious that the Bears were so eager to go out and get this cast off from two different teams in less than a year. Yes the Bears had interest in him before he signed on with Cleveland but shouldn't it be of concern that he was sought after and then released without even a regular season game?
Rod Hood is formerly of the Arizona Cardinals, and is not a part of a great Cardinals secondary. He is a part of an awful legacy of CBs that extends back to nearly two decades. The last big CB in Arizona was Aeneas Williams and since then it's been one burnt toast victim after another. Hood at best would have been slated as a nickel back for the Cardinals last year who were 22nd in the league against the pass.
He then doesn't manage to stay on the Browns' roster through the first round of cuts. This isn't exactly reassuring in terms of his ability. So you have to wonder just how bad is the Bears' situation at CB if Hood is the best they can do?
