Found this little blurb on YouTube an interview with Tommie Harris reflecting on the 2009 season.  While the interview was very brief and didn't cover much in depth there is a point at the end where there is a big revelation regarding Harris' feelings about his tenure in Chicago.

The very candid nature of the question really shines a light on what has become a very negative feelings towards Harris, part of the development of this negative feeling has been created in part by how the front office and coaching staff has dealt with the issue of  Tommie Harris' health.

To be clear the main issue in question was the surprise knee surgery Tommie Harris let out just prior to the start of last season.

Bears brass from the get go had been stating time and again, that Tommie  Harris was 100-percent, that his knee wasn't a concern.  Harris rested his knee throughout mini-camp, and OTAs and voluntary workouts.  Even though the coaching staff AND Jerry Angelo were stating unequivocally that Harris was 100-percent healthy Harris continued to miss practices.

Angelo nor Smith never mentioned that Harris had knee surgery in March, never put it out there never brought it up, just kept beating the Tommie Harris is 100-percent drum up until Harris himself finally had enough and let it be known that he  wasn't 100-percent and that he had had knee surgery in March.

This admission by Harris truly let onto the dishonesty and flat out lies the Bears had been telling about  Harris and his knee problems.  This in turn has led to the fans placing the blame squarely on  Harris.  The impression that the Harris was lazy, that wasn't practicing through pain gathered steam because the constant information being put forth by the Bears was that Harris was 100-percent.

So now Harris has to over come this tarnished legacy of so-called laziness and he has to do it on his own with absolutely no responsibility or backing from either Angelo or Smith.

Whether Harris will actually ever become the player he once was remains to be seen, but this much is certain before fans pass judgment on Harris they need to remember the source of true dishonesty and lies and the animosity that exists between Harris and Bears management and staff.
