Chicago Bears training camp note: J'Marcus Webb at LT for second day

Boundless speculation will come out of today's practice as J'Marcus Webb is practicing ahead of Chris Williams at LT.   With Mike Tice saying earlier that Williams and Webb will split reps at LT and split days and Webb practicing with the first team for the second consecutive day, Tice is not sticking to his words.

Further adding to the speculation is Chris Williams is taking reps with the second team at RT and some with the first team at RT.  What adds fuel to the speculation fire is the likely loser of the Williams and Webb battle is going to be the backup swing OT.

Mike Tice won't speak to the media again until next week so we won't know anything for sure until Tice confirms it.

All of this of course could prove be pointless tomorrow if Williams comes out with the first team at LT tomorrow and Webb starts taking reps at RT.

Still the news is that Webb is at left tackle for the second day in a row, deviating from the plan Mike Tice told the media he would consistently follow, and Williams is taking reps at the role the loser of this training camp battle will be filling.

No, I'm not entertaining the idea that Mike Tice has already made his decision on who the starter will be at LT.  That battle is far from being settled only six practices and four padded practices into training camp.

Making it explosive speculation is rookie UDFA James Brown has flipped from the second team RT spot to the second team LT spot, which would put him ahead of Chris Williams for a day.

Brown has been one of the best performing OTs throughout camp.  He's natural at everything he does whether it's on the right side of the left side.  Brown is more comfortable on the left side, so he's earned his way over there to see what he's capable of.

He deserves to earn reps with his consistent play and is living up to the draft talk he received leading up to the draft.  Brown, at the very least is earning a shot to remain on the roster further complicating things for a player like Chilo Rachal.

Rachal is a guard only and Brown is showing he has versatility that the Bears covet.

At this point it's offensive line musical chairs with nothing set nor likely to be set until after the third preseason game.
