Bears Guard Lance Louis Has Come On Strong, Gets Big Test versus Lions' Suh
Lance Louis has thus far been the most consistent offensive lineman on the team during the 2012 season. Louis has been a solid run blocker and an even better pass blocker. However to this point in the five games he's started he hasn't faced a player of the same caliber as Ndamukong Suh.
Suh has been a dominant force since his arrival in the NFL. He leads the league in combined sacks and tackles for a loss by a defensive tackle over the last two seasons.
The Bears however have managed to keep Suh in check for the most part, allowing only one sack, and zero tackles for a loss. Keeping Suh in check however has not led to overall offensive line success as the Lions have essentially dominated the Bears' in the trenches. Sacks pressures, hits, tackles for a loss you name the Lions have racked it up at an alarming level against the Bears.
In the fourth game of the season in Detroit the Bears allowed six QB hits on Jay Cutler, three sacks and gave up six tackles for a loss. In the game at Soldier Field the offensive line performance wasn't much better giving up seven tackles for a loss, three QB hits on Cutler and two sacks.
A strong game against Suh and the Lions' formidable rotation of defensive tackles, in prime time would go a long way towards establishing his reputation. Louis is a young up and coming player and there's not a better place to arrive than on Monday Night Football.
The Bears will be counting on the offensive line to get the running game going and to keep pressure out of Cutler's face. This game against what appears to be a resurgent Lions team is another key cog in the race to win the division.
